Help & Documentation

Here you'll find guides, tips, and answers about FCP Cleaner.

Welcome to FCP Cleaner

FCP Cleaner is a cleanup utility for Final Cut Pro libraries on macOS.

The app scans your .fcpbundle libraries for generated files that can usually be removed safely without affecting your original footage or project data.

FCP Cleaner is designed for editors who work with:

  • large Final Cut Pro libraries,
  • external SSDs,
  • archive drives,
  • multicam projects,
  • proxy workflows,
  • optimized media.

What can FCP Cleaner do?

  • Delete Render Files: Removes generated preview and render files.
  • Remove Proxy Media: Deletes editing proxies that are no longer needed.
  • Delete Optimized Media: Frees up disk space used by generated high-quality media.
  • Remove Analysis Files: Deletes generated analysis data created by Final Cut Pro.
  • Smart Protection: Warns you if Final Cut Pro is still running.
  • Expert Mode: Scans entire drives instead of individual folders (Pro Feature).

How it works

FCP Cleaner scans Final Cut Pro libraries (.fcpbundle) and analyzes generated folders inside the library structure.

The app focuses on:

  • Render Files
  • Proxy Media
  • Optimized / High Quality Media
  • Analysis Files

Original media files and library databases are ignored during cleanup.

Designed for macOS

FCP Cleaner is built specifically for modern macOS systems and Final Cut Pro workflows.

The app supports:

  • Apple Silicon Macs,
  • Intel Macs,
  • external SSDs,
  • larger Final Cut Pro archives.

Safe cleanup workflow

Before deleting anything, FCP Cleaner checks whether Final Cut Pro is currently running.

If Final Cut Pro is open, the cleanup process is blocked to avoid conflicts with active libraries.

Important: FCP Cleaner deletes generated files directly instead of moving them to the Trash. Deleted files can only be restored from a backup or recreated by Final Cut Pro.
